Overview
The Edmonton Homeless Commission is the steward of the Plan to End Homelessness. The Commission is responsible for ensuring that the Plan’s targets are met and strategies are implemented.
As a committee of Edmonton City Council, each year the Commission reports to the Mayor and Council on progress in implementing the Plan to End Homelessness.
The Commission’s other priorities are to:
- Advocate for implementation of the Plan to End Homelessness
- Encourage collaboration in the effort to end homelessness among the homeless serving sector and with community partners
- Educate Edmontonians about homelessness and ending homelessness
- Conduct research related to implementation of the Plan to End Homelessness – for example The Study of the Homeless in Edmonton with Intensive Needs.

Edmonton’s Homeless Commission works in partnership with Homeward Trust, homeless service agencies and Housing First teams, and Edmonton’s faith and business communities. Together, we have turned traditional ways of dealing with homelessness upside down. Together we are proving that ending homeless is more than a lofty ambition – it is becoming a reality.
